Well promotion is the best thing or toll to attract the news customers and biding the old ones. That’s why Apple promoting Apple Music by using push notification by bending its rules. For such a wave of Apple Music notifications to previous subscribers offering them an additional 3-month free trial. Now, Apple is continuing its Apple Music focus with push notifications allowing current subscribers to gift a friend a free month of the streaming music service.
The company has once again twisted its rules by pushing a promotion for its Apple Music subscribers. Well, earlier, Apple’s App Store guidelines states clearly, push notifications shouldn’t be used for promotions or marketing.
Apple promoting Apple Music
According to the Apple’s rules of marketing, that says “Push Notifications must not be required for the app to function, and should not be used for advertising, promotions, or direct marketing purposes or to send sensitive personal or confidential information. Abuse of these services may result in revocation of your privileges.”
But according to the Apple, the notification is actionable, allowing you to tap it and be taken to a page where they can send a referral to non-Apple Music subscribers. Apple notes that the referral is suitable only for individual memberships. If you send a recommendation to someone who has already used their 3-month free trial, they’ll get a total of 1 month of Apple Music for free. If someone has yet to use their free trial, they’ll get a total of 4 months for free.
Apple notes only non-subscribers are eligible for the gift subscription, adding that the one-month membership can append Apple Music’s standard three-month trial period for new users. Apple’s method of using push notifications to encourage its growing Services business has irritated many subscribers. This is especially true when you consider Apple is seemingly violating its own App Store guidelines. But it’s fairly easy to disable Apple Music notifications completely.
